Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Like all of you, I woke up this morning to learn of the passing of our Holy Father. While this news was not unexpected, it is a bit unsettling, and so we turn to the Lord in prayer for Pope Francis and the Church during this time, trusting that God in His Providence will take care of everything, as He ultimately always does. While I’m away until tomorrow night visiting family, I did want to make you aware of some news being made public today; namely, that I am slated to be transferred from Saint Paul of the Cross Parish this coming July. I received my new assignment as Pastor of Christ Our Savior Parish on the North Side a couple weeks ago, but asked the Bishop if we could delay announcing it until after Holy Week and Easter, so as to not distract from the importance of the Holy Days, and he agreed. My replacement will be Father Joe Uzar, currently the Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in the North Hills. I had a chance to meet with him and show him around a little bit. He is very excited about coming here. Of course, more information will be forthcoming in the days ahead, and my apologies for announcing this via Flocknote, but the way news travels these days, I prefer that you hear of the change directly from me rather than learning about it somewhere else on social media.
I look forward to seeing you soon and for my remaining months at Saint Paul of the Cross. In the meantime, be assured of my prayers that God will greatly bless you throughout the Easter season. Sincerely, Father Mike |
