Each February 3rd the Church commemorates Saint Blaise, bishop and martyr. According to tradition, Saint Blaise was a good bishop and worked very hard to improve the physical and spiritual health of his people. Legend has it that during a persecution of Christians in the 4th century, as Blaise was being hauled off to prison, he miraculously kept a young boy who had a fish bone lodged in his mouth from choking to death. He is therefore considered as the Patron of Throats.
Therefore, the traditional Saint Blaise Blessing of Throats will be offered at the following times on Monday, February 3rd:
- After the 8:00 AM Mass in St. Anne church
- After the 8:45 AM Mass in St. Winifred church
- At noon in St. Anne church
